are several methods of attaining a single phase output
from a three phase supply, see
Technical Information. The most commonly used option
for power ratings grater than 10KVA is the open delta
transformer
The transformers consist of two windings mounted on
the outer limbs of a standard 3 phase ‘3UI’
transformer lamination core. The primary coils are open
delta connected to link to the three incoming phase
supply lines. The two secondary coils are star connected
with just the two extreme lead brought out to terminals
for the single phase output the star connected point
is not available.
Transformers can be supplied in a range
of enclosures from IP22 to IP66
