Our transformers are designed with the correct level
of compensation of the AC output voltage for regulation
and peak currents to provide the required DC output
voltage.
Transformers as standard for these applications include
2 primary trim taps.
Smoothed DC units incorporating large capacitors are
fitted with discharge resistors to prevent the possibility
of accidental shock after the unit is switched off.
Such resistors are designed to discharge to safe voltage
levels within 30 to 60 seconds without dissipating excessive
power during normal operation of the supply.
Rectifiers are selected and mounted on suitable heat-sinks
to operate continuously at the required DC output current.
DC Supplies can be supplied in a range
of enclosures from IP22 to IP66
We do not supply DC units with Half Controlled or Full
Controlled Thyristor or Triac Rectifiers however we
can provide transformers suitable for use with such
devices.
3 Phase
We can design and manufacture to order various DC power
supplies to operate on 3 phase supply systems. These
DC supplies automatically provide high levels of smoothing
without the requirement for capacitors and inductors

Variable DC Power Supplies
We can design and manufacture variable DC supplies
either single phase or 3 phase using a variac or a Variac
/ Transformer combination before the rectifier. When
connected directly they will give a variable output
from 0V to the required maximum DC voltage or when connected
in a “Buck-Boost” configuration will give
a DC supply variable over a ± Tolerance range.
The units can be supplied open style as a kit of parts
- Variac / Transformer / Rectifier and heatsink
- Variac / Complete DC power supply assembly
to be built into your own panel or as a complete enclosed
assembly
