There are two basic types of electrical connection
system

Type BS1363

These are UK domestic 3 pin 230/240V 13Amp plugs and
sockets. There is only one basic plug type however the
sockets have several options
Flush mounting
Box mounting
Plastic clad
Metal clad
IP44 covered
Type IEC60309 (Formerly BS4343)
Mains systems

These are a range of plugs, sockets, couplers and appliance
inlets for 110V, 230/240V, 400/415V and 440V supply
systems. They come with a range of pin connection options
2 pin + earth, 3 pin + earth and 4 pin + earth for use
on either single or 3 phase supplies.
These items are rated for 16Amps, 32Amps, 63Amps and
125Amps and can be supplied splash proof IP44 or weatherproof
IP67
The sockets and appliance inlets may also have a range
of optional built-on components e.g. MCB’s or
isolator switches.
Low voltage systems

These are a range of plugs, sockets, couplers and appliance
inlets for 24V and 42V systems. The are supplied as
either 2 pin or 2 pin + earth. Rated for 16Amps or 32Amps
they are supplied splash proof IP44
Type IEC 60320

These are the types of 3 pin flat bladed plugs and
sockets typically used in the back of domestic appliances
e.g. kettle, computer, DVD player etc. They have two
different ratings 10Amps and 16Amp for 230/240V mains
systems.
Plugs can be supplied for either straight or right angle
insertion. Sockets can be supplied either plain or fused,
switched or with interference suppression filters.
Type CEE 7/4 “Schuko”
These are a range of 2 pin round European plugs
and sockets with a flat earth contact plate. They
are rated for 230V mains systems at 16Amps |

US NEMA 5-15R
We can offer a 3 pin 15Amp flush mounting US
socket suitable for connection by either a 2 pin
or 3 pin US plug |

Military Standard
We can offer to specific requirements military style
multi pin plugs and sockets manufactured to MIL-C-26482
(bayonet fixing) and MIL-C-50515 (screw fixing) standards.
Others
We will consider the use of any specific plug / socket
request from customers for any particular application |
